Responsible production in NOA NOA!
Noa Noa's collections are manufactured in various countries around the globe, including China and India. It is very important to us that our products are manufactured in a proper and responsible way. We therefore work actively with responsible supplier management which, among other things, involves systematic dialogue and regular inspection visits to our suppliers. We have drawn up a Code of Conduct, which set out the ethical guidelines that suppliers must accept and follow. At the same time, Noa Noa belongs to BSCI, which is another important element in our efforts to ensure responsible manufacturing conditions at our suppliers. BSCI stands for Business Social Compliance Initiative, and is a recognised international platform for improving the rights of workers and ethical conduct at manufacturing sites worldwide.

How do you ensure that suppliers live up to NOA NOA's Code of Conduct?
At NOA NOA, we believe in developing long-term relationships with our suppliers. We have dealt with more than 80% of our suppliers for at least five years This means that we have a clear insight into the conditions at our suppliers' factories. We also believe in visibility and open dialogue. Noa Noa repesentatives visit the main production sites and agents 1 to 2 times a year. One of the purposes of these visits is to monitor whether suppliers continue to live up to Noa Noa's code of conduct and to identify any critical areas requiring improvement.
Do you cease working with a supplier that fails to live up to Noa Noa's Code of Conduct?
If, on the basis of a visit, we discover that a supplier has failed to live up to our code of conduct, we review the specific issues with the supplier and formulate an action plan for improving the areas in question. The action plan must be carried out in order for the collaboration with Noa Noa to continue. In certain cases, Noa Noa may be forced to cease collaboration with a supplier who shows no desire to improve conditions as required.
Can I be certain that Noa Noa clothing does not contain traces of harmful chemicals?
Noa Noa complies with European standards and thereby observes a list of chemicals that may not be present in our products or which may only be used to a limited degree. This may include certain dyes suspected of being allergenic or carcinogenic, as well as softening agents such as phthalates, which are thought to adversely affect fertility. Our independent international business partner, SGS Group carries out random testing in ensure that limit values are obvserved.
Do you frequently encounter child labour?
Fortunately, child labour is now a rare occurrence in factories that export goods. In accordance with NOA NOA's Code of Conduct, a person must be 15 years old to work at a factory manufacturing goods for us. This corresponds with to ILO (International Labour Organisation) standards.
Do you frequently encounter forced labour?
Unfortnately, forced labour is not uncommon in certain developing countries. Forced labour takes a number of different forms, the most usual being that companies confiscate workers' identity papers, lend money to workers (debt slaves) or simply lock workers inside the factory. In accordance with NOA NOA' s Code of Conduct, our business partners pledge to observe ILO standards. This is our guarantee that the company does not use forced labour, threats or disciplnary measures to force people to work.
